Holy Spirit High School pitcher Mike DiIanni threw a no-hitter on Tuesday in a 2-0 win over Mainland Regional in Linwood.

DiIanni struck out seven Mustangs.

"It was a great pitching matchup." said Holy Spirit head coach Steve Normane. "Mike was incredible. He had everything working."

The only runs of the game came in the first inning when Chris Lefferts hit an RBI double to give the Spartans the lead.

"(Mainland pitcher) Matt Tepedino played great as well," Normane said, "He was matching Mike inning for inning, and it was a great game to see. You can tell something special was happening."

Tepedino has four strikeouts for Mainland.

Millville won its first game at the new Mike Trout Field.

Harry Montero hit an RBI single in the third, driving in Kyle Cox to give Millville the only run it needed.

Roberto Rivera pitched 52/3 innings, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out four. Cox pitched the remaining 11/3 innings with three strikeouts for the save.

Justin Smith pitched six innings in the loss for Hammonton, allowing a run on six hits, striking out seven. Hammonton is No. 8 in The Press Elite 11.

Absegami's Matt Ardente got the better of a pitcher's duel with EHT's Misael Castillo. Ardente pitched eight shutout innings, scattering a walk and six hits with 10 strikeouts.

Pat Scheck hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning. He went 2-for-3 on the day.

Castillo pitched seven shutout innings in the no-decision, striking out 11 for the Eagles.
