Hammonton High School senior Christian Mortellite scored his 1,000th career point as the Blue Devils boys basketball team beat visiting Oakcrest 61-36 Friday in the season opener. Mortellite, who led all scorers with 20 points, hit a layup in the third quarter to reach 1,000. He has 1,006 points.

Hammonton outscored the Falcons 31-14 in the middle quarters. Isaiah Pugh and Devon Porteons added 12 points apiece for the Blue Devils.

For Oakcrest, LaDarrel Dixon had 12 points.
