Here are The Press' selections of the top boys boats in various categories. The winners are selected on the basis of results in the season's five championship regattas.

Varsity eight

St. Augustine Prep

Led the Hermits to the No. 1 ranking all season in The Press Elite 11. Topped the New Jersey boats in all five major races, winning the Garden State Scholastic Rowing Championship and the Atlantic County High School Rowing Championshp.

Finished fifth out of 38 crews at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, 7.46 seconds behind winner Gonzaga High School in Washington D.C.

A second-place finish at the Philadelphia City Championships on May 5 earned St. Augustine an invite to the USRowing Youth National Championships on June 7-9.

The Hermits' crew placed fifth in the men's youth eight "C" final (17th), rowing mostly against the country's fastest junior rowing clubs, which can get rowers from several high schools.

Second eight

St. Augustine Prep

Also won at the Garden State and Atlantic County events. Placed sixth out of 25 boats at the Stotesbury Cup.

Lightweight eight

St. Augustine Prep

Led the area boats in its division in each of the five regattas. Won the Garden State and Atlantic County races, while taking second at the Philaelphia City Championships. Placed fourth at the Stotesbury Cup and fifth at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America Regatta, which is commonly called "the Nationals."

Varsity four

Vineland

Won at the Atlantic County Championships to become the first Vineland boys crew to win a major category in the nine years of the event. Placed third at the Garden State race to lead area boats.

Lightweight four

Egg Harbor Township

Won the Atlantic County race by more than eight seconds. Also fourth in Garden State race, which is commonly called "States," and third at the City Championships to lead area boats.

Junior eight

Holy Spirit

Won the Atlantic County race after finishing second at the Garden State event and third at the City Champonships. Placed fifth out of 48 boats at the Stotesbury Cup, and was fourth at the Nationals, just 2.35 seconds behind winner W.T. Woodson.

Junior four

Oakcrest

Easily won the Atlantic County race, and then finished third at Stotesbury and second at the Nationals. Also was third at States and second at the City Championships.

Freshman eight

Ocean City

The only area boys boat to win at the Stotesbury Cup, beating 44 other boats. Also was third at the City Championships, won the Atlantic County race, and was fourth at Nationals.

Novice eight

Ocean City
