Boys soccer roundup: Southern beats Toms River North in double overtime

Erik Kretschmer scored the game-winner six minutes into double overtime as Southern Regional High School edged Toms River North 3-2 in a Shore Conference boys soccer game Friday.

Chris Starner had the assist in overtime.

John Starner scored 2 minutes, 28 seconds into the first half for Southern.

North's Sean Moore answered about 10 minutes later. Heric Pita scored eight minutes into the second half to give Toms River the lead.

With an assist from John Starner, Gavin Dougherty netted the tying goal for the Rams at 56:56.

Goalkeeper Luke King made 18 stops in the win.

Ocean City's Stephen Paschuck crossed the ball into the box and Zack Sakena scored the game's only goal on a header 10 minutes into the second half.

From then on, St. Augustine put on the pressure. Good defense and 11 saves by goalie Evan McCardell preserved the shutout.

Valentine Rodriguez tied the game at 2-2 about 30 seconds into the second half off an assist from Anthony Madle. Rodriguez netted three goals. Yesiel Colon scored the go-ahead goal with 15 minutes left off on a right-footed volley off a cross from Bobby Mascio.
