A look ahead

St. Augustine Prep had some strong freshmen this year, and will lose only three seniors. That means that the Hermits certainly will be favored to win their 13th straight Cape-Atlantic League conference championship. The Prep won the CAL National Conference from 2003-2010, and since moving to the American have captured that title four times.

Mainland and Vineland also should have many good returnees. Egg Harbor Township and Oakcrest must rebuild but will stay competitive, along with Atlantic City.

In the National Conference, Ocean City could be even better next year. Middle Township will have to rebuild following its best season ever at 8-2. Cape May Tech also will lose key swimmers to graduation. Buena Regional and Cedar Creek will have many good returnees. Holy Spirit should improve.

In the Shore Conference, Southern Regional will rebuild but should contend. Cumberland Regional will return a strong nucleus in the Tri-County Conference.
