A look ahead

It has been said before, but St. Augustine Prep might have trouble winning the Cape-Atlantic League American Conference title next winter. The Hermits have won 11 straight conference championships, National from 2003-2010, and American from 2011-2013. St. Augustine will lose several seniors to graduation, while Vineland returns a good nucleus and Mainland Regional should stay strong. Atlantic City will have good swimmers back, while Egg Harbor Township and Oakcrest each return some.

The CAL National Conference should be interesting, with Ocean City possibly the team to beat. The Red Raiders were a young team this year and should get better. Middle Township has most of its scorers back and should also continue to improve. Contenders Cape May Tech, Holy Spirit and Buena Regional have some rebuilding to do.

Cumberland Regional should stay competitive in the Tri-County Conference.
