Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.

Today: They will play at Detroit at 7:08 p.m. Rick Porcello (4-4, 4.74) is the Tigers’ scheduled starter.

Stats: Trout is hitting .306 with 12 home runs, 46 RBIs, 53 runs scored and 18 stolen bases on 21 attempts in 76 games. His on-base percentage is .384, his slugging percentage .534 and his OPS .918.

Notes: Trout remained second among American League outfielders in the latest All-Star voting results. He had 3,548,195 votes, second only to Baltimore’s Adam Jones among AL outfielders.
