Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.

Friday: Leading off and playing left field, Trout was 2-for-5 with an RBI in a 5-2 win over Andy Pettitte and the New York Yankees.

Today: The Angels host the Yankees at 7:15 p.m. The Yankees’ scheduled starter is David Phelps (4-3, 3.90).

Stats: Trout is hitting .299 with 12 home runs, 43 RBIs, 47 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 67 games. He has 20 doubles and six triples. His on-base percentage is .368, his slugging percentage .547 and his OPS .915.

Notes: Trout is the only player in the American League with at least 10 home runs and 10 stolen bases this season.
