Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.

Friday: Hit a solo home run in the fifth inning of a 4-1 win over the Oakland Athletics. Playing center field and batting second, Trout went 1-for-3, walking once and striking out twice.

Today: The Angels host the Athletics and starting pitcher Dan Straily (6-2, 4.28) in a 9:05 p.m. game.

Stats: Trout is hitting .322 (120-for-373) with 60 RBIs and 66 runs scored in 93 games. He has hit 16 home runs and stolen 21 bases on 25 attempts. His on-base percentage is .400, his slugging percentage .571.
