Press readers share their views, via e-mail, about the Eagles’ 23-21 win over the Buccaneers:

Start the drumbeat for Foles! He has his first fourth-quarter comeback. He’s now in the QB class of 2012.

Mistakes almost cost the Eagles in a competitive game: a muffed punt and two missed FGs by the almost-perfect Alex Henery. Foles looked good, Bryce Brown didn’t fumble and the defense actually played pretty well. No wide-9, and the line actually put on pressure.

The team played with heart. Imagine that.

Finally, a good game. Foles looked good. Jason Avant really came up big.

I am happy for the team and for the fans.

What a game! The mediocre Bucs lost to the seemingly forlorn Eagles.

An inconsistent second half for the Birds after a credible start and then an unbelievable ending. We’ve got ourselves a QB, folks!

FRANK L. TAMRU

Be still, my heart. The Eagles won the ballgame, in spite of all the mistakes they made.

The team actually looked like a ballclub today. Everybody seemed to be on the same page (they all played as a team). Sorry we had to lose Brent Celek, but maybe they see that they really don’t really need the prima donna DeSean Jackson.

Good ballgame.

Whew! What a game! These are the real Eagles! Foles is fantastic! The defense had it all together. Everyone was clicking on all cylinders. This is wonderful for the team and its fans.

Hope they do it again Thursday!

Andy, we saw this act before: The team plays hard down the stretch and then next year, blah.

Foles looks good. The refs controlled the last drive, though — the Bucs had at least four penalties. But a win is a win.

JOHN LOMBARDO

The value of a buck is nothing compared to the value of beating the Bucs to stop the skid at long last.

Avoiding a ninth consecutive loss might mean that Reid hasn’t exhausted his nine lives yet (after all, in the song, the cat came back). The secondary played like it had a speck of self-respect.

If Foles is the future, then there’s hope on the horizon. I haven’t smiled on Sunday since September.

MARC TANDAN

Foles led a great two-minute drive. It had been a long 70 days without a win. Cannot wait until Thursday night.

Eagles win! Eagles win! Eagles win!

It’s been 70 days since this rowdy Eagles fan has had this feeling! Our Christmas tree is up, there’s a smell of cinnamon pine cones in the air and Foles has delivered all of us frustrated and loyal Eagles fans an early present!

I just ordered my 13-year-old daughter a personalized No. 9 Foles jersey for Christmas because my Little Angel saw him play at the Linc two weeks ago and loves him. Now, Daddy does, too! Great to see Andy excited and showing emotion at end of game, too!

Merry Christmas all, and to all, another Eagles win on Thursday!

Can you believe it? Where did this team come from? Foles continues to improve and showed some real poise. With no running game, he made some nice throws and used his feet to make plays.

You had the feeling it was going to be the same old formula with a critical turnover, stupid penalties and some sloppy defense at times. Reid certainly will not survive this season, but you had to feel good for him and the team today. Philadelphia has a new hero for at least four days.

BRUCE HOLCOMBE

If it was not for the excitement of shoving a bowl of the new Doritos Jacked chips down my throat, Dick Stockton would have put me to sleep by the second quarter of this game.

He must be the most boring NFL announcer on television, but alas, the Eagles probably do not deserve a better announcer at this stage of the season.

PETER HABERSTROH

Nick Foles, you are the man! Sound familiar?

This week the Eagles played with heart and spoiled the Bucs’ chances to make the playoffs. Foles and Jeremy Maclin played like they have been together all year. The defense did show some promise this week but still needs a lot of work. Special teams are still a concern — a botched punt return and a field goal that Henery should have made (I will forgive the one he almost made at 58 yards).

Thursday night’s game could be a good one. One game at a time and this season could end with some Ws.

PAM BURNELL

Seaville

You had to see it to believe it. Winning the game with 2 seconds to go is cutting it too close for comfort.

Congratulations to the Eagles for a great comeback.

The Eagles have something to look forward to in the future. Foles can only get better as he gets more and more experience. And with the guidance of a new head coach, I think the team as a whole will prosper and work its way back up to the top of the division.

DAMIAN CAPUA

No time left on the clock and inbounds by 3 inches. Only the Eagles can end an eight-game losing streak in such a manner. But diehard Eagles fans, please don’t chirp because it’s nothing to get excited about.

GREG JIAMPETTI

How long before an Eagles player uses the word “dynasty” this week?

FRANK MURPHINE III

Great game all-round, especially Foles and Avant . See you Thursday night. Thank you for the early Christmas present

MIKE RIDGWAY

Wow. Finally. Back-to-back competitive games, this one decided on the last play. I guess that’s as good as it gets this season.

It was almost sad to watch the Eagles celebrating as if they’d just won the Super Bowl, but after losing eight straight, I guess it’s understandable.

So is Andy back? Please.

TED NORTHRIDGE

Galloway Township

We’re going to the Super Bowl!

Wait a minute. I got carried away with a win, finally.

Anyway, good luck in your next job, Andy.

JOHN SEIDENBURG

Absecon

What a performance! It appears that Philadelphia has officially moved on to a new quarterback era. Foles successfully survived NOL (No Offensive Line) and seven sacks to win the game in the most dramatic fashion.

Sudden life, but we still need the draft picks.

SYLVIA W. STEWART

Egg Harbor Township

I know it’s probably better for the Eagles to lose and get a better draft pick, but, boy, was it fun to watch Foles lead the team back for the win. The kid made huge throws in the clutch and showed that he really could be the QB of the future.

Now, the defense still stunk and lacked heart, like it has all year, but the story of this game is Foles!

Oh, Andy, still needs to go, and soon.

GLENN MASTER

Ventnor

For a minute there, I thought I was Rip Van Winkle who woke up and watched the Eagles win the Super Bowl, the way Reid and the coaching staff were celebrating on the sidelines. I can hear Jeffrey Lurie now — “the team fought hard and I want to give Andy more time to work with this young QB. ... Blah, blah, blah ... .”

PAUL HAHN

Northfield

I sure hope that wasn’t Andy’s lucky shirt.

PETE MUSSA

Northfield

We have to use these last few games to evaluate the young talent.

At least I got to see a real championship team this weekend in the Holy Spirit Spartans: third straight state title.
