Ocean City Beach Patrol rookie lifeguard Brian Pasternak won the open paddleboard division Monday at the Upper Township Beach Patrol M.S. Six-Mile Bay Row in Strathmere in Upper Township.

Pasternak finished the race in 53 minutes, 5 seconds, the best time out of 44 paddlers over three divisions.

Tony Mehalic of the Ocean City Beach Patrol won the 12-foot paddleboard division in 58:30.

Ocean City lifeguard Jason Chew won the stand-up paddleboard division in 58:58.

The six-mile paddleboard race and the boat race are a combined event that is a fundraiser for multiple sclerosis charities.
