Some of the top senior boys and girls soccer players in the Cape-Atlantic League took the field at St. Augustine Prep on Thursday night for the seventh annual Les Heggan All-Star Classic.
In the girls game, the CAL American team defeated CAL National 6-2. The CAL National beat the CAL American 1-0 in the boys game.
The CAL National boys got their second win in three years after having lost the first four in the series.
Wildwood Catholic's John Gery scored the only goal with 7 minutes, 10 seconds left. Middle Township's Jacob Cowan assisted.
Lower Cape May's Eric Barikian had 10 saves for the CAL National.
Absegami's Matt McCormick, Oakcrest's Ryan Costello, St. Augustine's Jay Higbee and Egg Harbor Township's Brad Watkins goalie duty for CAL American.
In the girls game, Mainland Regional fueled the CAL American offense.
The Mustangs' Abbey Carey scored two first-half goals and Erica Weeks added another. CAL American's other scorers: Laina Matus (Egg Harbor Township), Brianna Robinson (Millville) and Brooke Zukawski (Ocean City).
Buena Regional's Jasmine Miro-Myers scored both goals for CAL National.
Hammonton's Brigette Allessandrini and Bridgeton's Jovan Childers split time in net for CAL American. OLMA's Devon Donaghy and St. Joseph's Taylor Jacoby for the CAL National.
