The T. John Carey Masters Ocean Swim is now a morning race and will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in Ocean City.

Registration is from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the 34th Street lifeguard house in Ocean City. The entry fee is $25.

The 34th annual 1-mile race will begin at 42nd Street beach and proceed in the ocean to the 34th Street finish line. The Ocean City Beach Patrol could switch the race to the other direction, from 26th Street beach to 34th Street, depending on the water conditions.

Sean McCall, then a Stone Harbor rookie lifeguard, was the overall winner last year in 20 minutes, 6 seconds. Hayley Edwards, of Pilesgrove Township, was fifth overall in 20:30 in 2012 and won her fourth straight Carey Swim women's title.

The event honors the late Carey, an outstanding former Ocean City Beach Patrol athlete, and an athlete and coach at Ocean City High School.
