Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.

Late Wednesday: Batting third and playing center field, he went 0-for-3 with a walk in a 2-1 loss to the Texas Rangers.

Thursday: Batting second and playing center field, he was 0-for-3 with two walks as the Angels snapped a six-game losing streak with an 8-2 win over the visiting Toronto Blue Jays.

Today: Todd Redmond (1-1, 3.81) is scheduled to start for the Blue Jays in a 10:05 p.m. game in Anaheim.

Stats: Trout is hitting .326 (137-for-417) with 17 home runs, 66 RBIs and 73 runs scored in 106 games. He had 23 stolen bases on 27 attempts.

Note: Trout is hitting .375 (15-for-40) in his last 11 games.
