Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.

Sunday: Went 1-for-5, striking out three times, in at 5-2 win over the Kansas City Royals. The Angels have won eight straight games.

Today: The Angels play at the Los Angeles Dodgers at 8:10 p.m. Zack Greinke (2-1, 3.48) is the Dodgers’ scheduled starter.

Stats: Trout is hitting .302 with 39 runs scored and 36 RBIs in 50 games. He has 13 doubles, five triples, 10 home runs and 12 stolen bases on 15 attempts. His on-base percentage is .379 and his OPS is .944.
