Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 22, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.

Thursday: Went 1-for-3, striking out twice, with a walk in a 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. He was caught stealing.

Today: The Angels host Texas and starting pitcher Matt Garza (9-3, 2.55) at 10:05 p.m.

Stats: Trout was hitting .335 (173-for-516) with 23 home runs, 82 RBIs, 95 runs, 36 doubles, nine triples and 31 stolen bases on 37 attempts in 135 games through Thursday. His on-base percentage was .433, his slugging percentage .574 and his OPS 1.007.
