Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 22, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.

Friday: Batting third and playing center field, he went 3-for-4 with an RBI in a 6-5 win over the visiting Texas Rangers. He was caught trying to steal second base.

Today: The Angels host Texas and starting pitcher Derek Holland (9-7, 3.07) at 9:05 p.m.

Stats: Trout was hitting .338 (176-for-520) with 23 home runs, 83 RBIs, 95 runs, 36 doubles, nine triples and 31 stolen bases on 38 attempts in 136 games through Friday. His on-base percentage was .435, his slugging percentage .575 and his OPS 1.010.
