Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.

Late Friday: Went 3-for-5, including his 17th home run of the season, with two RBIs in a 6-4 loss at Oakland.

Saturday: Went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in a 3-1 loss to the Athletics.

Notes: Trout has 54 extra-base hits. The club record is 88 set by Garret Anderson in 2002. ... The Angels are 32-18 this season when Trout scores, 15-36 when he plays but does not score. ... Entering Saturday’s games, Trout led the American League in triples (eight), was third in batting average and hits, fourth in runs, doubles (29), on-base percentage and slugging percentage, tied for eighth in RBIs and tied for 11th in walks (49). ... He has reached base in 25 straight games, the second-longest stretch by any Angels player this season. The longest was Trout’s 33-game streak from April 13-May 18.
