Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.

Saturday: Went 2-for-5 (two doubles) and was picked off second base during the Angels' 2-0 loss to the Houston Astros.

Today: The Angels host Houston at 3:35 p.m. Jordan Lyles (2-1, 4.50) is the Astros’ scheduled starter.

Stats: Hitting.294 (67-for-226) with 10 home runs, 37 RBIs, 42 runs scored and 12 stolen bases on 15 attempts in 56 games. His on-base percentage was .372 and his OPS .925. He has 16 doubles and six triples.

Notes: Trout hit .327 (36-for-110) with eight home runs and 21 RBIs in May. The Angels said that Trout became only the third major-league player in history to have at least four triples, eight home runs and eight stolen bases in one month. ... Trout scored 27 runs during May, falling one short of the club record the month, the Angels said. Vladimir Guerrero scored 28 in May 2004 ... Through Friday, 19 of his last 38 hits had gone for extra bases (six doubles, five triples, eight homers). He was fourth in the majors with 30 extra-base hits this season.
