Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.

Friday: Playing left field and batting second, Trout was 0-for-4 in a 5-2 loss to Pittsburgh.

Today: The Angels host the Pirates and starter Francisco Liriano (5-3, 2.44) in a 10:05 p.m. game.

Stats: Trout is hitting .313 with 12 home runs, 44 RBIs, 53 runs scored and 16 stolen bases on 19 attempts in 74 games. His on-base percentage is.391, his slugging percentage .549 and his OPS .939.

Notes: Trout had four hits Thursday. The Angels report that since the start of the 2012 season, only Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers and Andrew McCutchen of the Pirates have more games with at least four hits. They have eight such games, Trout seven.
