Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.
Today: Playing center field and batting third, he went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in an 8-4 win over Yankees in New York. Trout got the Angels’ five-run eighth inning going by hustling for a pop-fly double that Yankees center fielder Brett Gardner misjudged.
Friday: The Angels return home to face the Houston Astros and starting pitcher Brad Peacock (1-4, 6.43) in a 10:05 p.m. game.
