Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.

Late Friday: Hit a solo home run in the fifth inning of a 4-1 win over the Oakland Athletics. Playing center field and batting second, Trout went 1-for-3, walking once and striking out twice.

Saturday: Went 1-for-3 with a run scored in a 2-0 win over Oakland.

Today: The Angels host the Athletics and 40-year-old starting pitcher Bartolo Colon (12-3, 2.70) in a 3:35 p.m. game.

Stats: Trout is hitting .322 (121-for-376) with 60 RBIs and 67 runs scored in 94 games. He has hit 16 home runs and stolen 21 bases on 25 attempts.
