Mike Trout, an outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, was the 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was a two-time Press Player of the Year and The Press Male Athlete of the Year for the 2008-09 school year.

Saturday: Batting third as the designated hitter, he went 0-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in a 7-2 win over the Indians in Cleveland. He struck out three times.

Today: The Angles face Cleveland and starting pitcher Justin Masterson (13-8, 3.46) in a 1:05 p.m. game.

Stats: Trout is hitting .328 (145-for-442) with 20 home runs, 71 RBIs and 81 runs in 114 games. He has hit 32 doubles and eight triples. He has 70 walks and 91 strikeouts. His on-base percentage is .423, his slugging percentage .572 and his OPS .995.
