Dinner to honor high school football scholar-athletes is Feb. 24 in Galloway

The South Jersey chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame will honor high school football scholar-athletes on Feb. 24 at the Carriage House Restaurant in Galloway Township.

The event will commence with a reception at 5 p.m., followed by the banquet at 6 p.m.

The event honors the top football student athletes on the high school teams of Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem counties, plus Southern Regional High School in Ocean County.

Other awards will be presented to individuals who have helped promote the game of football in South Jersey. Ron Roberts has been chosen the Official of the Year. Penns Grove's Kemp Carr will receive the Coach of the Year award. Bob Hogan will receive the Contribution to Amateur Football award. Dr. Joseph Bernardini will be presented the Distinguished American Service award. The College Athlete of the Year award will go to Villanova University's Norman White, a St. Joseph gradaute.

Tickets can be purchased by sending $35 per person to Jay Connell, Holy Spirit High School, New Road, Absecon, N.J. 08201. For information, call Connell at 609-646-3000, Ext. 306, or Frank Campo at Atlantic City High School at 609-343-7300, Ext. 2096. Tickets will be mailed to purchasers prior to the event. Ticket orders must be received by Monday.
