Press readers share their views, via e-mail, about the Philadelphia Eagles' 28-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

The Eagles are not going to fix my roof, replace by salt-soaked furniture or empty the water out of my basement, but the play of this team will keep my blood boiling all week.

PETER HABERSTROH

And so ends the Andy Reid chapter of Eagles football. Sad beyond words.

All we need now is a loss to the Cowboys next week to strike the final blow for this season.

TED NORTHRIDGE

All I want for Christmas in a new offensive line, quarterback and coach.

Thank you, Santa.

LINDA VALENTE-ROSE

At halftime, the Eagles are down by 18 points to a team they should be beating. Time go say goodbye to Andy Reid and time to bench Michael Vick for a couple games.

MIKE RIDGWAY

Linwood

I watched the game until the beginning of the third quarter and the Eagles look terrible AGAIN! Certainly no defense.

Jon Gruden shouldn't be announcing the game, he should be coaching the Eagles, but what do I know?

I'm not missing any sleep over this game. Good night!

Turn on the football game, the Eagles are losing by 20. Turn on the basketball game, the 76ers are losing by 20. Looks like no hockey this year.

Could be long winter for a Philly sports fan.

Halfway through this disaster of a season and I am clueless as to what this Eagles team is all about.

I long for the days of Dawkins, Westbrook and Reese - players who had heart. (Today) is election day and I'm wishing there was another position on the ballot: head coach of the Eagles. But just like the presidential race, I don't know if there are any really good candidates available.

Well, it's the third quarter and the Eagles finally scored a touchdown. Yeah for No. 10! Woo-hoo!

It's hard to get too excited because this is obviously no Super Bowl team and THAT is what we longed for from Reid, and we're not satisfied with anything less from him. So bye, Andy. I think a fresh start will allow us to celebrate the small accomplishments while a team is being built up.

DEBORAH WILLIAMS

Millville

I sure hope that during the game Reid was able to find enough free time on the sidelines to work on his resume.

JOHN SEIDENBURG

Will the last fan watching this atrocity before going to bed please turn out the lights?

I can't wait to hear Andy's excuses for the loss as the Eagles are a really bad football team, poorly coached and lacking heart.

FRANK L. TAMRU

How can Jeffrey Lurie sit there and watch such an atrocity of a performance as this team puts in week after week, year after year without doing something about it?

The coaching is horrible across the board, the QB and especially the offensive line are terrible against the WORST defense in the league. Face it, fellow Eagles fans, this team will never go anywhere with "Big Red" at the helm. Yeah, I know, Andy, it starts with you and you have to do a better job. Blah blah blah!

PETE MUSSA

Northfield

Wow! What a game. Great passing and racking up yards with the running plays. Putting points up easily. Wait, that was the New Orleans team that did that.

Where were the Eagles? Well, they did have that great touchdown by DeSean Jackson and some field goals, so it was not a complete waste.

Maybe Reid had better go back to the drawing board and rethink a quarterback change. The Eagles' defense seemed just out of its league. And of course, the offense did little to protect Vick.

This season is going down the drain without a paddle.

HELEN LINCOLN

"The Saints have the worst defense in football" was all I heard all week. The Eagles' offense isn't exactly Air Coryell either! Vick boasted this week that he is a top-5 quarterback in the NFL? The man has had his head hit too many times! Where was Brent Celek's famous fist-pump tonight? Love it!

FRANK MURPHINE III

Bridgeton

This team is so painful to watch, you have to either laugh or be heavily sedated. The offensive line cannot protect the quarterback long enough for him to throw the ball. The defense can't tackle, stop the run or cover the pass in any consistent manner. They can't score a touchdown within the red zone. The play-calling is suspect at best. These are highly paid professional athletes. Terrible.

BRUCE HOLCOMBE

Beesleys Point

It is so hard to watch our Eagles turn into a "boring team."

Reality is this: A team takes on the personality and enthusiasm of its head coach. Reid has the enthusiasm of a man going to the gallows. Let's get a coach in here who will put a fire under these talented players. Jon Gruden, will you help out a team and a city with loyal fans? We need a coach with some fire! Fire Reid!

ROB WALKER

West Wildwood

No offensive line; a defense that can't tackle; an offensive coordinator who can't call plays; a head coach who seems to like to see his quarterback get killed; and a quarterback who needs at least 3 seconds to pass.

Can we send Demetress Bell back to Buffalo? It seems that the Birds blew $6 million on that deal.

Oh, I almost forgot: Reid's gotta go.

DICK BARNES

Town Bank

Can we get Notre Dame's coach, Brian Kelly ? LSU's Les Miles? Sean Payton? Dick Vermiel? Jon Gruden ? Who's next?

THOMAS ALVORD

Seaville

This Eagles team can only be described as pathetic and embarrassing. No offense, no defense and no urgency when the game is winding down.

Time to blow it up.

TOM MCDONOUGH

Galloway Township

What a sorry team - a defense that can't tackle and is lucky to get a sack or a turnover and an offensive line that can't block. There must be better linemen working on loading docks than those wearing green and white.

The offense can't score in the red zone and the offensive coordinator who hasn't a clue. Then top it all off with a quarterback and coach who just can't win . The only thing they can do is make a bad team look good!

Hopefully, Reid will be one of two people who become unemployed by Tuesday night.

TONY PERRY

Egg Harbor Township

Yeah, there are injuries on the O-line, but this was disgraceful. The Saints are cosmically bad, having lost to the Chiefs and the Panthers. And the Eagles can't beat these turkeys!

No one can tackle. No one can block. The play-calling stinks. Andy, find a real-estate agent and list your house. Poor drafts, poor play-calling, poor clock management, poor personnel decisions, and a QB who is a turnover machine. You're looking for work come January.

Oh, Jon Gruden, you're the contingency plan.

BRIAN VIGUE

Pleasantville

It's halftime and LeSean McCoy has over 100 yards rushing - and the Birds are down 21-3.

Anyone else hear Don Meredith warning up? The lights are already out.

JOHN LEON

Absecon

Vick is flawed, very flawed, but he's way down the list of problems on this team. The O-line is the worst in football. The D-line is the most overrated in football and the coach/GM has put together a terrible team.

Reid is clearly in his last year and his team has flat-out quit on him. This is as disgraceful a football team as I have ever seen wearing Eagles green. And no matter what lies ahead, it can't be worse than this.

GLENN MASTER

Ventnor

In the spirit of election day, it's time to vote Reid out of office. In the red zone and on defense, the Eagles are like those incessant political attack ads: deceiving and difficult to watch. After another offensive line injury, Vick has to be in favor of universal health care.

I can only hope Tuesday night's results are worth staying up for because this messy Monday night game wasn't. With any luck, in the new year, Sean Payton will be sworn in as the Eagles' new head coach.
