Linebacker Adrian Moten’s career with the Philadelphia Eagles lasted one game.

Moten, who played special teams in Sunday’s 16-14 loss at Pittsburgh, was released on Tuesday. The Eagles filled his spot on the 53-player roster by signing linebacker Jason Williams.

Williams, a third-round draft pick of Dallas in 2009, has played in 28 NFL games with the Cowboys (2009-10) and Carolina (2010-11). He was released by the Panthers at the end of this preseason.

The 6-foot-1, 244-pounder has 36 career tackles, 28 special-teams tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Last season, Williams led the Panthers with 15 tackles on special teams and had 21 tackles on defense. Williams played in five games with Dallas after being drafted in the third round out of Western Illinois University.

Moten, who was cut by the Eagles at the end of the preseason, had been signed to replace linebacker Brian Rolle and to possibly upgrade the Eagles’ struggling special teams. They gave up a 44-yard kickoff return to Pittsburgh’s Chris Rainey on Sunday.
