Who’s back: Claude Giroux, Scott Hartnell, Brayden Schenn, Danny Briere, Jakub Voracek, Sean Couturier, Wayne Simmonds, Matt Read, Max Talbot, Zac Rinaldo, Tom Sestito, Jody Shelley, Eric Wellwood.

Who’s new: Ruslan Fedotenko (free agent), Scott Laughton (rookie), Tye McGinn (rookie)

Who’s gone: Jaromir Jagr (free agent), James van Riemsdyk (trade)

Key stats: Of the Flyers’ top nine returning goal-scorers, all but Briere had career highs last season, though three were rookies.

Outlook: Despite losing Jagr and Van Riemsdyk, the Flyers’ offense should be even better this season due to the vast potential of Voracek (23 years old), Couturier (20) and Schenn (21). Even Giroux (25) might not have hit his prime yet. The power play is lethal with the playmaking of Giroux and Voracek combined with the big bodies of Simmonds and Hartnell in front of the net. Talbot and Couturier are excellent penalty killers.

Friday: Defensemen
