The Absegami High School football team can argue it ran out of time against Atlantic City last Friday.

The Braves trailed Atlantic City by eight points in a regular-season game. Absegami drove to the Vikings' 23-yard line with less than 30 seconds to play. On the game's final play, Atlantic City knocked away an Absegami pass near the goal line. Atlantic City won 33-25.

Absegami will get more time against the Vikings tonight. The teams meet in a South Jersey Group V quarterfinal at 7 p.m. at Atlantic City.

Back-to-back games in high school football are rare but not unheard of. Atlantic City faced this situation in 2010. The Vikings lost a regular-season game to Millville 26-6 on Nov. 5 but then beat the Thunderbolts 32-24 in the playoffs on Nov. 12.

Key players for Absegami: David Hood, RB, 100 carries for 800 yards; Tyler Bing, RB, 109 carries for 718 yards; Mike Dolan, QB, 70-of-123 for 911 yards and foyer touchdowns; Dustin Miller, TE, nine catches for 126 yards; Nick Della Vecchia, K, three field goals; Rashad Kinlaw, QB/WR/DB; Tiger Kirvay, LB.

Key players for Atlantic City: Jarren McBryde, QB, 72-of-113 for 1,465 yards and 15 touchdowns; also 448 rushing yards; Dayshawn Reynolds, WR/DB, 30 catches for 720 yards and six touchdowns; Domaneek Brown-Hurd (above), RB, 90 carries for 444 yards; Tyshiek Wright, WR, 16 catches for 242 yards.

Keys to victory: Absegami and Atlantic City have as much talent at the skill positions as any South Jersey team. Tonight's winner could be the team that makes the most big plays. The winner could also be the team that establishes a consistent running game and keeps the other team's offense off the field. Both struggled to run the ball last Friday.
