The 43rd annual Captain Bill Gallagher Sea Isle City Beach Patrol 10-Mile Island Run will be at 5:30 p.m. today at the 44th Street beach in Sea Isle City.

The race, which is open to all, goes on the beach and promenade. The race goes first to the Strathmere section of Upper Township, and then goes in the opposite direction to Townsend's Inlet. After a final turn the race finishes back at 44th Street beach in Sea Isle City.

Registrations will be from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Lodge at 300 Kennedy Blvd. The race-day registration fee is $30.

Tyler McCandless of Boulder, Colo., was the overall winner last year in 54 minutes, 39.23 seconds. Jessica DeCicco of Laurel Springs was the women's champion in 1:11.40.77.

The event honors Gallagher, a retired Sea Isle City Beach Patrol captain who opened the race up to everyone. Formerly, it was a lifeguards-only race.
