The Holy Spirit High School girls basketball team clinched the Cape-Atlantic League American Division title with a 49-24 win over Atlantic City on Friday.

The Spartans have a 10-1 record.

Holy Spirit head coach Dennis Smith has been at the helm for four seasons now.

“I think our desire, our hustle and our intensity won us the game today,” he said. “This is our 14th straight win in the American Division. It’s something to be very proud of.”

Amanda Reale rolled her ankle in the first quarter but went straight back into the game with three minutes left in the second once her ankle was taped.

“She just came up and said ‘all right coach, I’m ready to go back in.’ I think the girls picked up on that drive and seeing that determination helped them as well,” said Smith.

Reale scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while Summer Crilley added 21 points.

Atlantic City’s Cassidy Shea scored seven points and grabbed nine rebounds. Alyvia Essex had seven rebounds, made six steals and blocked six shots.
