The 12th-seeded Southern Regional High School girls volleyball team beat Edison, the No. 21 seed, 2-0 in the first round of the state Group IV tournament Thursday.
The scores in Stafford Township were 25-8 and 25-16.
Carly Dellavalle compiled 17 assists for Southern. Cece Hodgson contributed seven kills and six blocks. Emily Miglin added six kills.
The Rams (24-9) move on to face fifth-seeded Bridgewater-Raritan today in the Round of 16 at 4 p.m.
