The Timber Creek High School boys basketball team pulled away to a 60-35 win over host Hammonton in a South Jersey Group III semifinal game on Saturday. Hammonton (21-7) was the top seed.

Christian Mortellite led host Hammonton with 13 points. The Blue Devils trailed 29-19 at halftime and Timber Creek outscored Hammonton 15-7 in the third quarter.

Sameen Swint topped the Chargers with 20 points, including nine in the second half, and teammate Brandon Cornelius added nine points.

Timber Creek, the No. 4 seed, plays second-seeded Camden on Tuesday for the South Jersey Group III title. Camden beat sixth-seeded Moorestown 71-59 in the other semifinal.

“They (Timber Creek) were a very good team with a lot of talent, and they put it all together in all facets of the game,” Hammonton coach Joe Martino said. “We packed it in (defensively) but they made their shots. We didn’t make our shots.

“We had a great season. Nobody ever thought that we’d have 21 wins, and we were the top seed for the second time in five years.”
