High school basketball season starts today with ACIT debut

The high school basketball season begins today with two changes.

The first is that teams will be seeded for the state tournament based on power points. Teams will earn power points based on their opponents group size and victories.

In the past, teams were seeded for the state tournament based only on their record. The other change is to the Cape-Atlantic League tournament in February. Eight teams will now qualify for the tournament. The event began last season with just six teams qualifying.
