Bernard Hopkins' upcoming fight at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall will be held a week later than expected.

Caesars Entertainment consultant Ken Condon announced Thursday that Hopkins (53-6-2, 32 KOs) will defend his IBF light-heavyweight championship against Germany's Karo Murat (25-1-1, 15 KOs) on Oct. 26 instead of Oct. 19.

Hopkins' promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, requested the switch. No reason was given.

Hopkins, 48, will be fighting in Atlantic City for the 18th time in his 23-year boxing career. He made his professional debut at Resorts Casino Hotel on Oct. 11, 1988, losing a four-round, unanimous decision to Clinton Mitchell. He has a 15-2 record in the resort, however, including a big victory over former middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik in 2008.

Murat will be fighting in the U.S. for the first time. He is the mandatory challenger in the IBF ratings.

Ticket information will be available at a later date. The fight will also be shown on Showtime Championship Boxing.

Hopkins-Murat will be the third major fight held at Boardwalk Hall this year, following Adrien Broner-Gavin Rees on Feb. 16 and Lucas Matthysse-Lamont Peterson on May 18. Condon and Caesars Entertainment were hoping to host Matthysse's Sept. 14 bout against fellow junior-welterweight champion Danny Garcia, of Philadelphia, but the arena is unavailable because of the Miss America Competition. As a result, that fight will be held in Las Vegas.

Gary Shaw Promotions will bring boxing to Atlantic City on Aug. 17 at Revel Casino-Hotel. Revel will be hosting its first-ever boxing card with a championship doubleheader on HBO. IBF middleweight champ Daniel Geale (29-1, 5 KOs), from Australia, will defend his title against England's Darren Barker (25-1, 16 KOs). Also, IBF super-bantamweight king Jhonatan Romero (23-0, 12 KOs), of Colombia will meet Spain's Kiko Martinez (28-4, 20 KOs).

A week later, Philadelphia promoter Russell Peltz will bring a show to Bally's Atlantic City. Philadelphia super-featherweight contender Teon Kennedy (18-2-2, 7 KOs) will fight Joselito Collado (13-2, 3 KOs) in the 10-round main event.

Egg Harbor Township junior-middleweight DeCarlo Perez (10-2-1, 4 KOs) will be trying for his fifth straight win against Jamar Freeman (9-1-2, 5 KOs), of Wilson, N.C., in an eight-rounder. Millville junior-middleweight Ismael Garcia (5-0, 2 KOs) is also scheduled to be on the undercard.
