The Pleasantville High School boys and Buena Regional girls indoor track and field teams each became sectional champions at the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association South Jersey championship meet Thursday at the John Bennett Center in Toms River.

Pleasantville won the boys Group I title behind senior twins Isaac and Jacob Clark. Jacob Clark broke meet records in the 800-meter run (1 minute, 57.36 seconds) and the 1,600 (4:21.84). Isaac Clark won the 400 in 50.47. The twins each ran a leg in the record-setting 4x400 relay (3:28.28).

Buena won its first South Jersey Group I girls championship. In a tight competition, the Chiefs edged two-time defending champion Haddonfield 86-80. Andrea Olsen won the 55-meter hurdles in 8.52 seconds. She also placed second in the 400 (59.23) and third in the 55 (7.52).

Also for Buena, Emely Ramirez won the high jump (5 feet), Casey Sturts won pole vault (10-7).

Bridgeton's Braheme Days Jr. won the Group II shot put in 68-8.

Other local winners were Pinelands Regional's Lauren Zodl (Group II 3,200 in 11:46.12), Buena's RayShawn Scott (Group I high jump of 6-2), Cedar Creek's Zachary Zachowski (Group I pole vault of 12-0) and Matt Conover (Group I shot put of 45-6½).

Also for Cedar Creek, Gary Melton earned third place in the 55-meter dash (6.65) and fifth place in the 400-meter dash. Simmy Jackson was third in the 55-meter hurdles and the 4x4 relay was second, made up of Lasana Toure, Jackson, Zachowski, Melton.

For the Cedar Creek girls, Brianna Mays was third in the high jump.

The top six individuals, including ties, in each event in each group advance to the state indoor track and field championships at the Bennett Center next weekend.
