GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP – Brittany Lincicome has special memories of the ShopRite LPGA Classic. The 26-year-old is the reigning champion of the event.

So while she can recall her birdie on the 18th hole to seal the win, Lincicome has found coming back to the Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club a bit strange.

“Everyone's been coming up to me and asking, 'How are you feeling?' 'Are you ready?'” Lincicome, who has five wins on the LPGA Tour, said. “I can't be anymore ready. It's a weird feeling.”

Perhaps Lincicome isn't used to so much attention, but her memorable win captivated the fans who came out to see one of the best hitters in the Tour.

She finished 1-over par for a 72 in her first round and tied for 36th. She had three birdies, but two bogeys and double bogey on the 11th hole.

But her fans shouldn't worry. She had the same score in last year's first round. Then shot a 64 and a 66 over the final two rounds.

“This is a great golf course that I really enjoy playing,” Lincicome said. “It was a little windy out there. There are some tricky wings.”
