The decades-old tradition of The Press 200 Club bowling continues each September at eight southern New Jersey alleys.

The season began Sunday and runs to midnight on April 30. Hundreds of bowlers will be recognized in The Press over the next eight months.

The 66th annual 200 Club is a weekly and season competition in which the best series scores in league play from the eight alleys are listed each week. It was started by The Press of Atlantic City in 1942 and held continuously since 1950. Tournament scores aren't part of the 200 Club.

The bowling alleys in the 200 Club are Campani's Legacy Lanes in Deerfield Township, King Pin Bowling in Egg Harbor Township, Island Bowl in Wildwood (formerly 3J's Wildwood Bowl), Mouse Trap Bowling Alley in Woodbine, Wood Lanes in Pilesgrove Township, DiDonato's Bowling Center in Hammonton, Strike Zone Lanes in Egg Harbor City, and Thunderbird Lanes in Stafford Township.

The top men's and women's series scorers of the week highlight the weekly reports, which will appear in Monday's editions, and the other scorers are listed. Men qualify for the 200 Club list with three games of 210 or higher in league play. Women qualify with three games of 180 or better in a league.

Official scores are sent by the alleys to The Press by e-mail, fax and by mail.

The bowlers with the best series scores of the season are listed in the Season's Top 10, which will start later in the month.

The Press championships go to the man and woman who have the highest series of the season in league play.

Dave Adams Jr. of Riverside in Burlington County and Heather Ripa of Bridgeton were The Press champions of the 2012-2013 season. Adams scored an 858 and Ripa bowled a 778.
