Rosemont College freshman striker Lauren Whelan (Cumberland Regional) was voted Third-Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Whelan, the Colonial States Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, scored 18 goals and finished with 41 points.
Misericordia University's Nicolette Hensel (Buena Regional) was named to the second team of the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region and was also named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South All-Star team. Hensel, a senior back, had 11 assists and anchored a defense that recorded 15 shutouts. ... Macki Groves (Millville) scored six goals for Felician College this season. Kristin Mortelliti (Hammonton) had a goal and an assist.
University of the Sciences sophomore Garret Kerr (Middle Township) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference player of the week after recording his sixth and seventh double-doubles of the season. Kerr had 25 points and 10 rebounds in a 68-66 loss to Cheyney University on Wednesday and 16 points and 11 rebounds in a 62-51 loss to Dominican College on Saturday. ... Gettysburg College freshman Emily Duggan (Ocean City) scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds in a 60-55 overtime win over Franklin and Marshall on Thursday. She added seven points and nine rebounds in 53-52 loss to Swarthmore on Saturday. … Rowan sophomore Bria Hill (Atlantic City) totaled 17 points, 10 rebounds and five steals in an 85-62 loss to William Paterson University in an NJAC game on Saturday. … In the same game, William Paterson freshman Brittany Harden (Sacred Heart) scored six points, grabbed four rebounds and had one assist. … Neumann University freshman Sarah Roberts (Middle Township) scored seven points, had two assists and one steal in a 87-68 loss to Rosemont College on Saturday. … Freshman Megan Petuskey (Sacred Heart) scored six points, had six rebounds, three steals, one block and one assist in Stevens Institute of Technology's 59-53 loss to Ithaca College.
Sean Boylan (Seaville resident) finished third at 125 pounds for Bloomsburg at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships.
Montclair State University freshman Natalie Papantoniou (Mainland Regional) was named the NJAC Diver of the Week. She won both sections of diving in a tri-meet against NCAA Division I teams St. Peter's and Manhattan, scoring 169.2 and 124.5 in each section.
Widener University junior Colleen Tighe (Mainland Regional) won the 1,000-yard and 500 freestyle, and contributed to the 200 freestyle relay in a 121-72 victory over Washington College (Md.).
Amy Cohen (Mainland Regional) was named the 2012 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Coach of the Year for leading West Chester to back-to-back national Division II championships in 2011 and 2012. This year the Rams were 20-2, tying the school mark for wins in a season. Cohen is 37-6 in her first two seasons at West Chester.
Megan Comunale (Bishop Eustace) led the Catholic University field hockey team to its second straight Landmark Conference championship this fall. The junior goalie, a Hammonton native, stopped 78 percent of shots faced and recorded four shutouts as Catholic went 12-8.
Rowan offensive lineman Rob Barrett (Southern Regional) was named to the ECAC South All-Star team. Barrett anchored the offensive line. The Profs averaged 26.8 points per game. Barrett was also named first-team NJAC All-Conference.
