The Richard Stockton College baseball team began its 10-game stint in Florida with two defeats - a 5-4 loss to Bridgewater State (Mass.) and a 7-2 loss to Wesley (Del.) on Sunday.

The losses dropped the Ospreys' record to 4-4.

Keith Tappert went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI against Bridgewater State. Mike Bush (Southern Regional) also had two hits. Bridgewater State scored three runs in the top of the sixth for a 5-1 lead. Stockton answered with three runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning but went scoreless in the last three innings and fell 5-4.

Stockton managed just five hits in the 7-2 defeat to Wesley. The Ospreys took a 2-0 lead in the second inning as Travis Marra walked and later scored on an error, and Barry Larro (Cumberland Regional) hit an RBI single. But Wesley took the lead with four runs in the top of the third and single runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings.

Stockton will play Norwich (Vt.) at 9 a.m. today and Wesley at 1 p.m. in Vero Beach, Fla..

Stockton women's tennis: The Ospreys began their five-game spring season with a 6-3 loss to Juniata College in Hilton Head, S.C. No further information was available about the match.

Cumberland County College baseball: The Dukes' 10-game win streak was snapped with two losses to Rockland Community College (N.Y.). Vaughan Watson (Vineland) was 2-for-3 in a 7-3 loss in Game 1.

Anthony Lopez (Buena Regional) was 2-for-4 with an RBI in Game 2's 8-6 loss in eight innings. Cumberland is 10-3.
