The Richard Stockton College softball team reached the 30-win mark for the first time in program history by sweeping New Jersey City University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday.

The Ospreys (30-9) won 7-0 and then 8-1.

Michelle Pietrocola pitched her ninth shutout of the season and struck out 10 in the first game.

Heather Corica had two hits in each game for Stockton. Nichole Terreri also had four hits in the doubleheader.

The Ospreys are the No. 4 seed in this week's NJAC tournament and will play at No. 3 The College of New Jersey on Tuesday at a time to be announced.

Stockton baseball: The Ospreys swept an NJAC doubleheader against The College of New Jersey, winning each game 4-3.

In the first game, Ospreys right fielder George Eisenhart was 4-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Designated hitter Sean Kessler went 2-for-3 with a run.

The second game ended on Justin Gordon's two-out single that drove in pinch runner Brian Bessinger. Gordon also scored in the game.

Stockton (23-16) will play in a first-round NJAC tournament game Tuesday against an opponent yet to be determined.

Stockton track and field: The Ospreys' Jack Stephenson (Ocean City) won the men's javelin with a throw of 57.12 meters at the TCNJ Lions Invitational at The College of New Jersey.

There was no team scoring at the event in Ewing Township.

Stockton's Kevin Miller (Oakcrest) was second in the javelin (56.10) and teammate Nick Ivone took third (55.26).

Morgan Sinclair was second for the Stockton women in the 5,000 in 18:29.64.

Randy Faiges was third in the men's 3,000 steeplechase in 9:38.68 and qualified for the ECAC Championships. The Ospreys men's 4x100 relay team of Chris Parlow, Charles Brown, Tim Miller (Pinelands Regional) and Larry Floyd was third in 43.77 seconds.

Stockton women's crew: The Ospreys placed second in the women's varsity eight petite final and sixth in the women's novice four final at the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships in Lewisberry, Pa.

Cumberland County College baseball: The Dukes swept a doubleheader against Ocean County College, winning 7-1 and 9-2 to improve to 30-12.

Cody Stashak (Oakcrest) was the winning pitcher of the first game, going seven innings.

Anthony Lopez (Buena Regional) went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the game, and Devin McCann was also 3-for-4.

Cumberland County pitcher Joe Palmer went the distance in the second game. Lopez went 2-for-3 with a double, three runs and an RBI. Vaughn Watson (Vineland) was 2-for-4 with three runs, and Stashak went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Dukes host Union County College in a doubleheader in Vineland today starting at noon.
