The Richard Stockton College baseball team beat visiting Penn State Brandywine 12-1 in the Ospreys' home opener on Wednesday. Luke Root (Buena Regional) had three hits, a run and two RBIs, and Keith Ruppert went 2-for-4 with a double, a run, a stolen base and three RBIs.

Also for the Ospreys (10-6), Mike Bush (Southern Regional) was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Winning pitcher Brendan Stout went two innings, and seven relievers worked an inning apiece.

Cumberland County College baseball:

The Cumberland County College baseball team, ranked No. 6 in the nation by the National Junior College Athletic Association for Division III, defeated visiting Camden County College 7-1.

Winning pitcher Josh O'Neill (Millville High School) threw a complete game, giving up one run on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

Cody Stashak (Oakcrest High School) was 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and an RBI while Jordan Glover hit a two-run homer.

Anthony Lopez (Buena Regional High School) was 2-for-5 and drove in three runs.

The Dukes improved to 20-5 on the year and play a doubleheader at Brookedale Community College starting at 1 p.m. Friday.

Atlantic Cape Community College softball:

The Buccaneers dropped a doubleheader to Gloucester County College on Tuesday in Mays Landing. The Roadrunners won the first game 18-1 and the second 12-0.

In the first game, Meghan Brown had four hits and Taylor Rizzotte had three hits while Stephanie Josepayt had five RBIs.

Maddie Torres and Sam Sweeney each had base hits for the Buccaneers.

In Game 2, Sweeney had the only hit for the Bucs.

The Buccaneers fell to 0-4 for the season.
