The Richard Stockton College men's soccer team scored four goals in the second half to defeat visiting Mount St. Mary College 5-2 in the opening round of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Metro Division III Tournament.

Stockton is the No. 2 seed, while Mount St. Mary was seeded seventh.

Jared Ruff led Stockton with two goals, one in the 63rd minute and one in the 69th minute. It was Stockton's sixth straight victory.

Pat Rafferty and Chris Katona tallied a goal and an assist, apiece.

For Mount St. Mary, Michael Ennis and Brandon Mincher scored and Matt Darling made four saves.

Stockton will host the winner of third-seeded New Jersey City University and No. 6 Brooklyn College, which will be played today, in the semifinals.

Stockton volleyball awards: Stockton's Stephanie Warner and Nichole Serekian were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-New York Region team.

Coach Allison Walker was selected the region's coach of the year for the first time in her seven years as coach and Ashley Gubista named honorable mention team.

CCC women's basketball: The Cumberland County College women's basketball team (2-0) defeated Manor College (Pa.) 63-58 Thursday in Vineland.

Tess Elder (Sacred Heart) had led the Dukes with 15 points.

Former Press Player of the Year Alicia Cox (Vineland) had 14 points and Kyra Lunsford (Vineland) had 12 points.
