Richard Stockton College senior pitcher Michelle Pietrocola broke the school record with her 43rd career victory as the Ospreys' softball team defeated Alvernia 3-2 in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday in Reading, Pa.

Pietrocola moved to 7-0 on the season, giving up two hits and striking out nine.

Nicole Chabak's two-run double in the fifth inning gave the Ospreys the lead for good. Grace Long (Egg Harbor Township) and Samantha Shockey each had two hits in the game.

In the second game, Alvernia defeated Stockton 4-0. Chabak went 2-for-3, but the Ospreys (11-3) were shut out for the first time this season.

Stockton will host a doubleheader Thursday against Drew University with the first game starting at 3 p.m.

Stockton baseball: The Ospreys split a doubleheader on the road against Swarthmore College, winning the first game 2-1 and losing the second game 3-2.

In the first game, Ryan Adamski gave up one unearned run in six innings as he picked up the win for Stockton (9-6). George Eisenhart singled and scored later on an error in the seventh inning to give the Ospreys the game-winning run.

In the second game, Tim Patterson had an RBI double for one of Stockton's three hits.

Stockton will next host a doubleheader with William Paterson on Saturday, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Stockton women's lacrosse: Carlie Flake, Colleen Knight and Nicole Miller all scored two goals as Stockton made an early lead hold up in its 9-5 win over Bard College on Saturday night in Galloway Township.

The Ospreys scored six goals in the final 10 minutes, 18 seconds of the first half en route to a 7-0 halftime lead.

Bard stormed back to make it 8-5 with just more than 4 minutes left in the game, but Flake scored to seal the victory.

Mary Stornes (Absegami) made six saves for the Ospreys.

Atlantic Cape Community softball: The Buccaneers opened their season by dropping both games of a doubleheader to Brookdale Community College, 13-0 and 20-1 on Sunday.

In Game 1, Brookdale's Samantha Hosey threw a five-inning perfect game with 12 strikeouts. Shannon Kemmerer pitched for Atlantic Cape.

In Game 2, Veronica Gaffney got the Bucs' lone hit, and Robin Alter scored the team's only run.
