The Richard Stockton College women's soccer team dropped its second straight game to open the season.

Ithaca College (2-0) beat the Ospreys 2-1 Saturday at the Kean Tournament in Union.

Ithaca led 1-0 at halftime on Kelsey King's goal 7 minutes, 28 seconds into the game.

The Bombers expanded their lead in the second half when a Jess Demczar pass sent Taylor Baranowski in alone on Stockton keeper Sarah Hinkle. Baranowski scored to make it 2-0.

Stockton pulled within one when freshman Katherin Sperber scored on a penalty kick with 6:49 remaining. The Ospreys continued to rally, but a shot off the crossbar and a big save by Ithaca's Beth Coppolecchia thwarted the comeback bid.

Stockton volleyball: The Ospreys lost twice in the SUNY Cortland Tournament.

Stockton dropped its first match 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-22) to Nazareth College. Stockton then lost to Mount Union College 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-23).

Stockton dropped to 1-3 after having split its first two matches Friday at the tournament.

Stockton lost to Clarkson 3-1 (25-12, 20-25, 25-19, 25-23). Nicole Serekian and Kasey Hennecke led the Ospreys with 10 kills each.

The Ospreys then beat Buffalo State 3-0 (26-24, 25-10, 25-22). Serekian had 12 kills and 17 digs. Freshman Mayan Alverado had 19 assists and 13 digs.
