Alexander Hicks and Steve Owens Jr. won the 89th annual Heil Memorial Invitational, a four-day tournament, on June 9. Hicks and Owens beat Bill Cregar and Jim Gillespie in the championship match.

First Flight - Bob Rinier and John Murphy defeated Scott Schumacher and Jim Sellers.

Barb Hensil won low gross in Flight 1 in the Nine Hidden Holes Tournament on Wednesday with a 36. Hensil also won putts with 29. Dian Shivers was second with a 44 and Lois Werner took third with a 46. Ginny Soto won low net in Flight 1 with a 32. Bunny Sheeron was second with 33.5 and Carol Rott was third with 34.

Tavistock Country Club

Pete Barron III of Stone Harbor Country Club was one of nine qualifiers in the first qualifying rounds of the New Jersey State Golf Association Open Championship on Thursday at Tavistock Country Club in Haddonfield. Barron shot a 37-36--73, tied for fifth place with two others in the round.

Three players, Russell HIll of Old York Country Club at Chesterfield, Michael McGoven of Hackensack Golf Club, and Jason Panter of Old York, were the tri-medalists at 71 apiece.

The New Jersey State Golf Association Open Championship will be held at Hackensack Golf Club in Oradell in Bergen County on July 9-11.

Greate Bay Country Club

Cathy Olsen shot a 64 to win individual net for 18 holes on Tuesday at a Greate Bay Ladies League Guest Day Tournament. Janice Mott was second (70), while Vinnie Marino finished third (70) and Rose Ann Cahill was fourth (70). Kathy Callender placed fifth (7-1), while Barb Hensil was sixth (72), Eleanor placed seventh (72) and Marilyn Holter was eighth (73).

Mern Gouza was closest to the pin on the third hole, 15 feet, 3 inches away.

Anne Casale and Meg Axelson took first place in the nine-hole better-ball-of-partners tournament. Jackie Pinkerton and Estelle Price finished second, and Betty Chandler and Meg Axelson took third.

Linwood Country Club

Paula Gardner shot a 53 to win the Linwood Country Club Women's Golf Association Fabulous 15 Tournament on a match of cards on Wednesday. Ruth Skole took second with 53, and Diane Vogel took third with a 54.

Chip-ins were accomplished by France Hermann, Bonnie Spector, Sulin Ong, Ellen Simon, Shirley Weisman, Barbara Stillman, Paula Gardner and Skole.

Buena Vista Country Club

Ruth Ann Finger of Hammonton won the Par 4's Only Tournament with a 43. Carol Kane of Millville was second with a 45 on a show of cards. Kay Ayres also scored a 45 and took third.

Green Tree Golf Course

Jan Cade was the low gross winner in Flight 1 in a Green Tree Ladies League 18-hole tournament on June 4. Eileen Susman won low net in Fight 1.

Flight 3 - Low Gross: Earline Sloan. Low Net: Mary Lou McCarthy.
