N.J. Four-Ball Championship

The Panther Valley Golf Club team of Cory Wilson and Pat Wilson defeated Alexander Hicks and John Murphy of Wildwood Country Club 3 and 2 last week in the round of 16 at the New Jersey Golf Association Four-Ball Championship. The 81st annual match play tournament was at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club in Farmingdale.

Wilson and Wilson also won their quarterfinal match Tuesday, beating Anthony Fioto & Marc Grinberg of Charleston Springs Golf Club in 19 holes.

Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour

Greg Szrom of Egg Harbor Township shot a 43-43-86, tied for 26th out of 41 players, on Tuesday, Aug. 6 in the 13-18 boys division in the 12th annual Harry Hammond Invitational at Penns Oaks Golf Club in West Chester, Pa.

Szrom finished tied for 15th with a 79 in the 16-18 boys division at a tournament at Wilmington (Del.) Country Club on July 29.

Camille O'Halloran of Northfield tied for third in the 12-and-under boys and girls division (nine-holes) with a 45.

Linwood Country Club

Dotsie Toscano and Lori Kirsch won first low gross in the Linwood Country Club Women's Golf Association Member-Member Tournament on Monday and Wednesday. Claire Frankel and France Hermann won first low net.

Val Losco and Carol Giordano were second low net, and Gert Novin and Barbara Cohen were third low net. Judy Rahn and Donna Greenberg took first low net in the 1-day division.

Closest to the pin were Bernadette Goff on No. 3, Kirsch on No. 8, Cohen on No. 6 and Susan Mayer on No. 16. Susan Weis had a birdie on No. 14. Chip-ins were by Susan Adelman on No. 4 and No. 6, Weis on No. 14 and No. 15, Losco on No. 5 and No. 7, and Lynn Kramer on No. 11.

Glenn Zuck won the Linwood C.C. Senior Club Championship with a score of 72.

David Gardner won the 50-59 division with a net 65. Rob Lang was first in the 60-69 division with a net 65. Ken Mackler won the 70-and-over division with a net 67.

Scramble 'Fore' Scholarships in October

The Atlantic Cape Community College Scramble "Fore" Scholarships Tournament will be held Fri. Oct. 11 at Cape May National Golf Club in Erma in Lower Township.

The tournament will have a scramble format, and will get a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Player fees, which include a complimentary gift, lunch and a dinner awards banquet, are $150 per person and $500 per foursome.

Golfers can participate in skills challenges, including: chip-to-the-boat, putting green, closest-to-the-pin and longest drive contests. Individuals and businesses can also participate in six sponsorship package opportunities ranging from $125 to $5,000.

Bob Schwarzlow shot his first career hole-in-one on the 140-yard, 11th hole at Avalon Golf Club. He used a 7 iron.

Joey Nieman, 14, scored a hole-in-one on the 117-yard, second hole on July 31 at The Pines at Clermont. Witnesses were Matt Holmes, Dave Hickman and Pat Nieman.
