A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit) pitched five innings of one-run ball to help the Rome Braves beat the Kannapolis Intimidators (White Sox) 5-2 in the Class A South Atlantic League on Saturday night.

Holland allowed one run, while walking one and striking out one, and got a no-decision.

He is 2-7 with a 4.52 ERA through 12 games, including 11 starts, for Rome.

Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) went 1-for-4 with a run for the Tennessee Smokies in a 6-5 win over the Jackson Generals (Mariners) in the first game of a doubleheader in the double-A Southern League.

He went 0-for-4 in the second game, an 8-7 loss.

Szczur is hitting .152 in nine games with the Smokies and .280 with 39 stolen bases in 87 games overall this year.

Darren Ford (Vineland) was hitting .298 with 23 stolen bases in 43 games for the Tacoma Rainiers (Mariners) heading into their late game against the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Astros) in the triple-A Pacific Coast League.

Alexi Colon (St. Augustine Prep) was hitting .192 with two home runs in 26 games for the Eugene Emeralds (Padres) heading into their late game against the Vancouver Canadians (Blue Jays) in the short-season Class A Northwest League.

Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) was 1-1 with a 3.23 ERA in 10 games, including four starts, for the Everett AquaSox (Mariners).

His next likely start is Monday or Tuesday against the Boise Hawks (Cubs).
