Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) did not play for the Tennessee Smokies (Cubs) in a 4-2 loss to the Birmingham Barons (White Sox) in the double-A Southern League on Thursday night.

Szczur is hitting .280 with 71 runs scored, 41 RBIs and 21 stolen bases on 33 attempts in 119 games.

Darren Ford (Vineland) did not play for the Indianapolis Indians (Pirates) in a 6-1 win over the Rochester Red Wings (Twins) in the triple-A International League on Thursday.

Ford, an outfielder, is hitting .236 with 17 RBIs, 30 runs scored and 24 stolen bases on 33 attempts.

Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) got a no-decision in his debut for the High Desert Mavericks (Mariners) of the Advanced Class-A California League on Wednesday night.

DeCecco, a left-handed starting pitcher, gave up four runs, two earned, on seven hits and struck out six in five innings in the Mavericks’ 13-inning, 18-16 loss to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Dodgers).

Overall this season, he is 9-8 with a 4.46 ERA in 25 starts. In 137 1/3 innings, he has given up 143 hits, walked 42 and struck out 83.

A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit) is 5-9 with a 4.93 ERA in 25 games, all but the most recent of which were starts, for the Lynchburg Hillcats (Braves) of the Class-A Advanced Carolina League.

He did not pitch Thursday in an 8-2 loss to the Carolina Mudcats (Indians).

In 115 innings, he has given up 124 hits, walked 56 and struck out 78.

Darren Fischer (Cumberland Regional) is 0-3 with a 5.60 ERA in 11 relief appearances for the Princeton (W.Va.) Rays in the rookie-level Appalachian League.

In 17 1/3 innings, he has allowed 12 hits, walked seven and struck out 16. He had not pitched since Aug. 2.

Independent leagues (unaffiliated with MLB)

Alexi Colon (St. Augustine Prep) was 3-for-5, including a double, with three runs scored for the Schaumburg (Ill.) Boomers in a 10-3 win over the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League on Thursday.

On Wednesday night, Colowent went 2-for-3 — two triples — with a walk, two RBIs and three runs scored in a 7-6 win over the Miners.

Colon is hitting .269 with five home runs, 31 RBIs, 15 doubles, five triples and 33 runs scored in 73 games through Thursday. His on-base percentage is .344.

Charlie Law (Mainland Regional) is 2-3 with a 3.43 ERA in five starts. In 261/3 innings, he has allowed 33 hits, walked 17 and struck out 14.

His last start was Sunday.
