Darren Ford (Vineland) went 1-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base, a run scored and an RBI for the Indianapolis Indians (Pirates) in a 9-2 win over the Gwinnett Braves in the triple-A International League on Tuesday.
Ford, who led off and played left field, is hitting .246 with nine runs scored, two triples, five RBIs and 10 stolen bases in 18 games. He is tied for second in the league in stolen bases.
The Indians (20-7) have the best record in the 14-team league.
Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) and the Tennessee Smokies (Cubs) had a scheduled day off in the double-A Southern League.
Szczur is hitting .295 with two homers, 20 runs scored, 12 RBIs and eight stolen bases in 23 games for the Smokies.
They play at the Mississippi Braves this afternoon.
A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit) is 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 262/3 innings through five starts for the Lynchburg Hillcats (Braves) in the Class-A Advanced Carolina League.
Holland won his last start Monday.
Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) is 2-3 with a 3.21 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 28 innings through five starts for the Clinton LumberKings in the Class-A Midwest League.
DeCecco won his last start Monday.
