Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) went 0-for-4 for the Tennessee Smokies (Cubs) in a 2-1 win over Birmingham (White Sox) in a double-A Southern League game Thursday.

Szczur, who led off and played center field, is hitting .275 with 57 runs scored, 39 RBIs and 20 steals on 30 attempts in 102 games.

Darren Ford (Vineland) went 0-for-5 for the Indianapolis Indians (Pirates) in a 2-1, 12-inning loss Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Yankees) in the triple-A International League.

Ford, who led off and played center field, is hitting .220 with 23 runs scored, 13 RBIs and 21 stolen bases  on 28 attempts in 62 games.

Darren Fischer (Cumberland Regional) did not pitch for the Princeton Rays in a 14-0 win over the Burlington Royals in the rookie-level Appalachian League.

Fischer is 0-3 with a 5.17 ERA in 10 relief appearances. In 15 2/3 innings, he has allowed 11 hits, walked five and struck out 15.

A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit) is 4-7 with a 4.69 ERA in 19 starts for the Lynchburg HillCats (Braves) in the Class A Advanced Carolina League.

In 101 2/3 innings, Holland has given up 108 hits and 49 walks while striking out 67. His last start was July 23 and his next one has not yet been announced.

Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) is 8-7 with a 4.25 ERA in 21 starts for the Clinton LumberKings (Mariners) in the Class A Midwest League.DeCecco got a no-decision in his last start Tuesday.

In 114 1/3 innings, he has given up 114 hits, walked 38 and struck out 72.
